Checked out

Today's mindset includes nothing but some faint buzzing in the background about a magical place called the BAHAMAS!

Of course, in front of my eyes are notes for a Restorative dentistry Exam that I must ace to earn the rite to kick back on the beach with a good book and the ocassional pina colada. In exactly 27 hours, myself and 5 friends will be on the road to Charleston, SC. Along the way, we're likely to pick up some straglers, say 10 more 2nd year dental students and 16 first year dental student along with some 30 pharmacy students. When we arrive, Carnival Fantasy here we come!

A week of sun, pools, beaches, dancing, and friends awaits and I couldn't be more excited! We've booked a snorkelling excursion in Nassau where we will get to snorkel at a shallow reef, a shipwreck, and with sharks. My chilly self needs the sun ASAP!

Confession time!

Amidst a harrowing bought of insomnia, a lone young woman watches the food network in hopes of dreams of sugarplums...or maybe more accurately FRENCH FRIES!

If anyone knows anything about the healthy food movement, it's undeniable that one of the major culprits is mayonnaise. Well, I'm a rebel. I love mayo. Serve it up on a chicken sammich, in tuna salad, on a hamburger, or the best idea my taste buds have ever had the glorious experience of tasting...

*drool*

FRENCH FRIES!!!

Yes, I said it. I can't resist the temptation to dip those greasy sticks of starchy deliciousness in the heavenly mayonnaise of such foodie dismay. Where on earth did I learn such a habit you ask?! Well, Germany of course! My proud German heritage has instilled in me a love of the curious combination. Never have I experienced such simple tastes being brought together in a way so deliciously sinful. Chocolate? fuhgetaboudit...MAYO is where it's at!

Oh, and don't even think about that funky miracle whip goo...

Beauty amongst the chaos

Hello? Anybody still there? I've been completely M.I.A. for a while now. I know, I know...bad McKenzie.

Anywho, amidst the chaos that is this week, I managed to take a little break from studying to watch something absolutely incredible. It's a short film by an artist named Patryk Kizny.

TheChapel. A short film. (HDR timelapse) from Patryk Kizny on Vimeo.

Well worth clicking on the "fullscreen" button!

Talk about surreal! A stressed out studying night took a backseat for a few minutes to watch that and I couldn't have made a better decision. So, for anyone out there needing a pick-me-up-calm-me-down, please watch!

Simply Shea Designs Obsession

Hi all! This morning, I had a long overdue coffee date with one of my good friends and fellow ADPis Abby over at Simply Shea. I loved catching up with an old friend/sorority house roommate! Let me tell you all, she makes the CUTEST headbands! (one of which I am now the proud owner)

She makes the adorable felt flowers herself in nearly any color palette you can think of! Her STORE over on Etsy sells the headbands along with clips and adorable hats. I know she's mentioned making felt flowers for dog collars, baby shirts, and the possibilities are essentially endless! Go over and check her out!

Current Project

I was feeling crafty yesterday and had all this hideous school things sitting around my house, so...I turned my living room floor into organization station! How do I know I'm a nerd? I decorated my box of flash cards for the dental boards.

And now that I'm done, I need more projects! So, anyone have any inspiration? What are some projects that you have done that need to be next on my list of things to tackle?

It's so fluffy I could DIE!

Looky what's in my backyard! I swear, I live "Where the Wild Things Are!!!"

Gorgeous red foxes! They were huge, probably 60-70 pounds I would guess. They decided that my backyard would be the perfect mating spot. I decided to respect their privacy and capture only the non-intimate moments. Now I just wonder if I can put my name down for one of their pups for a pet!

UPDATE: Was informed by my Mom that I am delusional and they were probably only about 20-30 lbs. Oops! There goes my imagination again!

Days of Wine and Roses

Oh how wonderful life is when finals are over! I'm loving my leisurely lifestyle that's developed in this week's time. Tonight, I had a luxurious pedicure with one of the best friends anyone could ask for! Lauren, Happy Belated Birthday!

Now, we are studying on the couch while watching Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire...a piece of Papa Murphy's pizza in hand, drinking a glass of my new favorite wine: Sebeka Cabernet Pinotage!

Oh how yummy! It's earthy, velvetty, and just a touch sweet. I may just go and buy a case as I'm going through a red wine stage currently. I am ridiculously giddy for some odd reason today...so this just can't get any better! Off tomorrow evening to a fantastically traditional Southern home for a heart-warming dinner party. Can't wait for the Faulkner Ladies' Christmas Dinner!

XOXO, Giddy Girl
